With a growing number of young singers seeking high quality choral training, we are forming our latest national training choir, the Aotearoa New Zealand Academy Choir.
Working in the same artistic space of the New Zealand Youth Choir and the New Zealand Secondary Student’s Choir, the Academy Choir will provide training for singers 14-24 years of age in the proven tradition of excellence of our national choirs. Those singers may be on the pathway to successfully audition for NZYC or NZSSC.
If you are experienced at working with young people, and passionate about a diverse choral repertoire including waiata from Aotearoa and the Pacific, we would love to hear from you. Our new MD would have worked in a similar aspirational choral environment as a leader, and is able to curate a programme in line with our national choirs’ pedagogy.
The MD is supported by and contributes to a professional team and will benefit from a supportive partnership with the artistic team of the other national choirs.
It is envisaged that Academy Choir works in an annual cycle and meets 3 – 4 times per year during school holidays.
Interviews for this position will take place in December or January in time for a first course in April 2023.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a contractor to lead the inaugural 2023 Academy Choir.
We accept applications now to joinus@choirsnz.co.nz but no later than Thursday 10 November 2022.
