The Aotearoa Choral Academy is Choirs Aotearoa New Zealand’s national training choir for emerging singers, bringing together talented young vocalists from across the country in a programme of expert coaching, musicianship training and high-level ensemble performance. As the next step in Aotearoa’s choral pathway, these singers are developing the skills, artistry and musical leadership that will shape New Zealand’s future choral landscape.
This programme showcases the choir’s versatility through a rich and varied repertoire, from the soaring Renaissance polyphony of Duo Seraphim and Mendelssohn’s festive Weihnachten, to contemporary gems including Ola Gjeilo’s atmospheric Tundra, Eric Whitacre’s playful Animal Crackers, Reena Esmail’s rhythmic TaReKiTa, and the stirring te reo Māori work Wairua Tapu. The result is an inspiring musical journey performed by some of Aotearoa’s most promising young choral singers.
Join us and celebrate choral singing at it’s most joyous!
